THE 1998 CAR AND DRIVERS

The Car

DRP / G-Tech will again be racing the ex-works Lotus Esprit GT2 V8 Twin Turbo with which they competed in four rounds of last year's series and which has since undergone further impressive changes. Most obviously the car has a striking new metallic orange and green colour scheme which in itself has significant importance. Not only do these represent the Dutch National colours but they are also the colour scheme for M-Sport Promotions. In addition, both shades are genuine Lotus colours and the team is very aware of the impressive heritage and history that it represents on every appearance. Whilst the Grand Prix team from Lotus Cars may be no more, DRP / G-Tech are determined that with the support of Lotus Cars in Norfolk, they will continue the winning tradition of the Lotus name.

The car itself is powered by a Lotus V8 engine incorporating G-Tech's own Twin Turbo system and developing over 430 BHP. Mounted in the rear of an ultra light weight, carbon fibre chassis, the car develops 30% more downforce than any of the other GT2 cars. The transmission is through a modified six speed sequential Lotus-built gearbox which allows lightning-fast gear changes for maximum effect.

Track Record

The DRP / G-Tech Motorsport Lotus Esprit competed in just four rounds of the 1997 Privilege GT Championship as a learning experience for their 1998 assault. However, such was their effectiveness that drivers Allard Kalff and Martijn Koene won the GT2 class twice and also finished third overall in the race on two occasions.

The Drivers - Allard Kalff

Allard is a professional race driver who has enhanced his reputation as far as America with his incisive commentaries for the Europsport Grand Prix coverage. He is a works driver for Mitsubishi in the Dutch Touring Car Championship and his speed, and development input into the Lotus are responsible for much of its success to date.

The Drivers - Graham Morris

Graham combines an incredible enthusiasm for racing with one of the most professional attitudes to be seen amongst his peers. With many wins behind him in various categories of racing, he came to the attention of Will with a superb drive to GT2 victory in a rival Lotus Esprit at the British Grand Prix meeting last year.

The Drivers - Martijn Koene

Martijn is a former European Kart Champion with a reputation in Holland as one of the best Kart engine preparation experts in Europe. His speed in the Lotus last year was the equal of Allard's and hence the team benefitted from one of the strongest driver pairings to be seen all year. It is intended that Martijn will deputise for Allard when his Formula One commitments prevent Allard from racing.
